Wild Oyster Project

A restoration project by ZSL created a network of pontoon-dropped cages to promote native oyster growth across the River Conwy in Wales, the Firth of Clyde in central Scotland, and Tyne and Wear in northern England. In 2021 I had the joy of visiting one of their sites. The visibility was a challenge but the scale of work and efforts being made to protect native oysters is astounding. Large-scale off-shore structures are now being deployed as part of this programme of work.
